Stan Lee is the former president and chairman of Marvel Comics. Some of his notable works include Fantastic Four, Hulk, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Thor, and X-Men. In the last ten years there have been 30 Marvel Comic movies based on his work. Stan Lee is on top of the world. So, what could possibly be Stan Lee’s pet peeve when he’s doing so many amazing things? Generic on-hold messaging! Take a look for yourself:

The creator of superheroes across the universe can’t stand generic on-hold messaging! What does he hate about it the most? When the messaging says, “Your call is important to us.” This is the frustration of Stan Lee and consumers everywhere. If my call is so important, why are you forcing me to listen to a ukulele solo for 30 minutes, and I’m not interested in ukuleles!

Ukulele

Stan, we feel your pain and vow to end this madness. It’s one thing to tell your customers that their call is important to you. It’s another to show them. As our mothers taught us, actions are more important than words. If your customer’s calls are so important then you should show them that. How? I thought you’d never ask!

The best way to show your customers that their call is important is to provide relevant messaging. Your customers are calling you because they want something relating to your products and services. Instead of giving them ukulele music, tell them about your company, a funny story or anecdote, or maybe even sales and specials. Let them know what else you have to offer and why they want it. This is also a great time for you to include the history of your brand, tips and tricks for your products, and upcoming events. The possibilities are endless!

It’s time to save the day and be the superhero your customers want. Show your customers they are VIPs with your creative, informative, and engaging on-hold messaging, and they will thank you for it with increased sales!
